Marketing can make or break a freelance business, but a lot of us come at it from a passive perspective. We give up after one rejection (when it can take 8-12 “touches” to sign a client) and hope that tweeting our availability will eventually work out (when marketing is something most of us should be devoting all our free freelance time to.)
Marketing is the foundation of any freelance business and it’s got a lot of moving parts. It’s also something you can get (a lot) better at with time. Check out the resources below, and if you’re looking for an introduction? Take the BlackFreelance Marketing Quiz to get a feel for how freelance marketing really works.
(And if you ever want to talk it out with me and the rest of your BlackFreelance coworkers, come check out the Marketing topic on the community boards.)
