Had some Twitter thoughts on breaking into gaming as a writing niche. Yes…this was inspired by Pokemon Go.
If you want to see the original thread, it’s here, but here’s an overview.
This stuff makes me think it’s a good time for writers to start establishing a specialization in gaming…how?
Since there aren’t a whole lot of formal credentials around gaming, this is one area where a blog could be super-useful…
Search for a list of gaming magazines, look at what more mainstream pubs are talking about, and watch PokemonGo unfold…
Write on news, reviews, guides, lists…create your own slant and use your voice. Whatever you do, treat it like a *job*…
Get a few (10 or so articles) up and start pitching, both to game mags and other pubs…don’t miss opportunities for intersection…
Like game settings as travel inspiration (might interest travel AND gaming mags) regardless, easy way to kick off/focus your freelance site.
