It’s conference season in my industry, and everybody and his mama, cousins, and best friends are scrambling to put together words that get (and keep) people’s attention.
If you’re a writer or graphic designer (or even videographer or podcaster) make sure you not only keep a calendar of your industry conferences (easy to find by just Googling) but also name those specific conferences on your website and bidding site profiles (keywords and all). This goes for email marketers and content strategists too…many companies and organizations collect email lists at events that need follow-up campaigns and also create content leading up to the actual conference date.
If you have local business gatherings, make sure you let people know you provide those services too, and don’t forget to set reminders a couple months ahead to focus your marketing specifically around those events, since people will be looking for extra work they may not be able to get done internally. Tweet and post about the services you offer to help businesses get their money’s worth out of events (they pay a LOT to attend) shamelessly in the months and weeks leading up to them. Feel free to borrow language from this post in your marketing;)
Megan.
